Building stoves in partnership with The Sparkle Foundation

We at Mbedza believe in collaboration, both internally and with our external partners. A few weeks ago our stove team built stoves for the community supported by The Sparkle Foundation, another charity operating in Zomba. This collaboration was key as it strengthened our relationship but also deepened our understanding of their projects. Through interaction during the collaboration, our team learnt a lot of skills in project management and implementation.

There was excitement amongst the beneficiaries. According to them, this was a crucial but unexpected project which they will benefit from a lot, as they are aware that the stoves will help them deal with deforestation which is a major problem affecting their area. The beneficiaries were also happy to hear that the stoves cook fast, as most of them engage in small scale businesses, the new stoves will safe them time, allowing them to focus more time on their business pursuits.

Angella Mphamba, community facilitator at sparkle foundation Malawi, said, “as it is the core vision for Sparkle foundation Malawi to create a future in which every community has an equal opportunity to live a life of health and self-sufficiency in Malawi providing these stoves is very key. Following from the testimonies given by others that these stoves are health effective, the collaboration fits into the goals of Sparkle Foundation Malawi.”

She was very satisfied with the collaboration as it pursues similar purposes for both Mbedza and The Sparkle Foundation. Working together in the future will help us to provide more beneficiaries with our life-changing stoves.
