Mphatso: The welcoming face of our Songani Hope and Wellness Centre
As the receptionist at our Songani Hope & Wellness Center, Mphatso’s qualities as a warm and welcoming person make her well matched to greet new people attending the center.
She approaches her work diligently and exemplifies our values of “Respect the local” and “Listen carefully”. As a member of the local community herself she is trusted and as a result people choose to confide their worries and troubles in her. She has given marriage advice and relationship advice and is able to encourage individuals to seek health advice with our trained HIV Counselors, Bainatu and Fyson.
At times Mphatso chooses to intervene herself, “When a girl who was being abused by her parents approached me, I was keen to help, I confronted them with kindness and love and in the end the girl reported some positive changes [at home].”
As you can see, Mphatso’s job is all encompassing and reflects the complex truth of the reality in Songani. Without team members like Mphatso our center and the community it serves would be at a huge loss. Thank you Mphatso!
