Girls Nest Programme
Our Mbedza Orphan Education Program (MOEP) team is thrilled to announce the successful launch of the Girls Nest Club at Songani, a safe and empowering space dedicated to helping girls discover their potential. This initiative is designed to inspire confidence, nurture talents, and build resilience among young girls, equipping them with the skills and support they need to thrive.
The launch event was a vibrant celebration of girlhood and empowerment. The day began with an introduction to the club's mission, followed by fun games that encouraged teamwork and collaboration. A spirited debate on the motion “Menstruation should not be a barrier to girls’ education” highlighted the girls’ critical thinking and confidence in expressing their views.
Creativity also took center stage with a bracelet-making activity. Each girl designed a bracelet carrying her name, a symbol of her membership in the Girls Nest Club and a reminder of the strength of sisterhood. One of the most impactful moments was the distribution of sanitary pads to every participant, addressing a vital need and reinforcing the day’s powerful message of dignity and empowerment. This initiative is about more than just providing resources, it’s about creating an environment where girls feel supported, valued, and unstoppable.
The event was made even more special by a keynote address from Praise Banda, a proud MOEP alumna and now a talented designer. Praise shared her inspiring story of overcoming challenges and rising above obstacles to become the confident, empowered woman she is today. Her journey resonated deeply with the girls, showing them that with support and determination, they too can achieve their dreams.
The Girls Nest Club is more than just a club, it is a movement to uplift and encourage the next generation of leaders. With activities designed to foster creativity, resilience, and confidence, the club provides a safe haven where girls can learn, grow, and thrive together.
We believe in the power of every girl to change their community. The launch of the Girls Nest Club marks a significant step toward realizing this vision. We are excited to witness the impact this initiative will have on the lives of our young girls and the communities they will go on to inspire.
