Library reopening met with delight from the community

Barely a day after opening our library, 35 students from across the Songani area visited our Library to access books and study. The library had been closed for a week due to the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays, and the students were grateful for its reopening.

Mariana Thawi who is one of our regular library users said that closure of the library is not a desired situation for her, “Songani library is my main library, I spend most of my studying time here. During the holiday it was very hard for me to access books which made it very challenging. Studying at home is even worse, parents expect you to help them, friends want to chat with you. As a form 4 student who is waiting to sit for my Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations studying at home was not good for me”. She hopes that the library will be stocked with even more books in the new year to expand her knowledge and access to different authors.

Our librarian, Alex, is committed to making this year a memorable one for library users by organizing study circles and offering extra classes at the center. The library serves as a vital resource for the community, and we are grateful for the support it has received.
