Whilst the prevalence of HIV in Malawi is falling it still has one of the the highest in the world, with 8.1% of the adult population (aged 15-49) living with HIV.

That summer, I grew to love Malawi as a country and felt so at home. I learnt so much about what it meant to be a small charity working with communities struck by poverty - and how small changes can make a world of difference.

Raising the funds amongst themselves, our youth group set out to provide basic necessities to the elderly families surrounding our Songani Hope and Wellness Centre.

Working together to provide more beneficiaries with our life-changing stoves.

Recently, 12 children from our Chiyambi Nursery attended their very own Graduation Ceremony.

As is too often the case in Malawi, most of her relatives had dropped out of school due to economic challenges. Despite this, Fellister always worked hard and had bright dreams for her future and her family…

It was lovely to see so many friendly faces at Friday's presentation in Driffield, the UK birthplace of Mbedza.

We left enthused and encouraged.

We’re going on tour.

Every week our counselors, Bainatu and Fyson, visit communities as far away as 50km from our Songani center, allowing community members to access HIV testing and counseling services within their villages.

This was an exciting opportunity for the youth who were given time with the faciliator to address their fears and expectations regarding sex and relationships.

They performed music, drama and dance at the event which aimed at disseminating messages of HIV prevention and the promotion of ART (antiretroviral therapy) medication uptake by those people who are HIV positive.
